To use Rust-Oleum Tub & Tile Spray, first thoroughly clean and prep the surface by removing all hardware and any loose paint. Next, apply 2-3 light coats of the aerosol spray, holding the can 10-16 inches away and using a steady, back-and-forth motion, allowing each coat to dry for at least 15 minutes before applying the next. Ensure the area is very well-ventilated and wear a mask and gloves.

1. Preparation is key
Clean: Remove all hardware, caulk, and drains. Wash the surface thoroughly with an abrasive cleaner to remove soap scum, grease, and dirt, then rinse well.
Degrease: Wipe the surface with a non-oily solvent like isopropyl alcohol to remove any remaining film.
Sand: Lightly sand the entire surface with #400-#600 grit wet/dry sandpaper to create a slightly porous surface for better adhesion, then rinse thoroughly and let it dry completely.
Wipe: Immediately before painting, wipe the surface with a tack cloth to remove any dust.

2. Application
Ventilation: Work in a very well-ventilated area. Open windows and doors and use a fan if possible. Wear a mask and gloves to protect yourself from strong fumes.
Shake: Shake the can vigorously before you begin.
Spray:
Hold the can 25-40 cm from the surface.
Spray in a steady, back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke.
Apply 2-3 light coats, with each coat applied horizontally and the next vertically.
Keep the can in motion and the distance consistent while spraying.
Dry: Allow at least 15 minutes of drying time between each coat.

3. Drying and curing
Allow to dry: Let the final coat dry for the recommended time before touching or using the surface. For the aerosol product, a full cure may take longer. For the refininishing kit, allow for the specified cure time before heavy use.
