SPRAYPAINT POLYURETHANE SATIN 319G (RUSTOLEUM)
Rust-Oleum Polyurethane Satin is a clear protective finish primarily for indoor use on a variety of surfaces, offering protection against scuff marks, abrasions, water, and chemicals.
Primary Uses and Surfaces
It is ideal for application on interior items such as:
Wood surfaces: Furniture, cabinets, doors, mouldings, shutters, tabletops, banisters, and wicker. It enhances the natural wood grain and provides a durable, smooth finish.
Metal surfaces: Can be used on items like doorknobs, hinges, and handles.
Painted surfaces: Can be applied as a clear top coat over existing painted surfaces.
Key Features
Durable Protection: The polyurethane formula is ultra-tough and is noted to last twice as long as traditional varnishes, offering excellent resistance against scratches and stains.
Satin Finish: Provides a subtle, smooth sheen that balances gloss and elegance.
Application Method: It is available in both brush-on and spray forms, with the spray version featuring an advanced system that allows for application from any angle.
Drying Time: Generally dries to the touch in approximately 2 hours.
To use Rust-Oleum polyurethane spray paint, prepare a well-ventilated area and a clean, dry surface, then shake the can vigorously for one minute. Apply two or more light, even coats by holding the can 25-40cm away and spraying in a steady back-and-forth motion with slight overlaps. Allow the appropriate drying time between coats and clean the nozzle by inverting the can after use.
Preparation
Ventilation: Work outdoors or in a very well-ventilated area, like an open garage, and avoid windy or dusty conditions. Wear a respirator to protect yourself from fumes.
Surface: Clean the surface thoroughly to remove all dirt, grease, and loose paint. For a previously painted surface, you may need to de-gloss it.
Protection: Cover surrounding areas with a drop cloth or newspaper to protect them from spray mist.
Can: Shake the can vigorously for at least one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. Continue to shake it every few minutes while painting.
Application
Distance: Hold the can 25-40cm from the surface.
Motion: Spray in a steady, back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Start spraying before the surface and finish after the surface to ensure even coverage.
Coats: Apply two or more light coats instead of one heavy coat to prevent drips and runs.
Movement: Keep the can moving constantly while spraying.
Drying and clean-up
Drying: Allow the paint to dry for at least 2 hours to the touch and up to 4 hours for full dryness at 21°C and 50% humidity.
Recoating: Recoat within one hour of the previous coat, or after 24 hours.
Cleaning: After use, turn the can upside down and press the spray button for 3-5 seconds to clear the nozzle.
Stubborn clogs: If the nozzle clogs, twist and pull off the spray tip and rinse it in a solvent like mineral spirits. Do not insert anything into the valve opening.
