SPRAYPAINT HAMMERTONE GREY 250ML (SPRAYMATE)
To get a smooth, professional hammered finish with SPRAYMATE Hammer Tone, you must properly prepare the surface and apply a single, heavy coat of paint.
Surface preparation
Work in a well-ventilated area with temperatures between 10–32°C and humidity below 65%. Place a drop cloth or cover the surrounding area to protect against overspray.
Clean the surface thoroughly to remove all dirt, grease, oil, and rust. Use a wire brush or sandpaper for any loose rust or flaking paint.
Wash the surface with a commercial detergent or methylated spirits, then rinse with fresh water and dry completely with a clean cloth.
Lightly sand glossy surfaces to ensure proper adhesion.
Use a primer if necessary. While SPRAYMATE Hammertone has superior adhesion, a suitable primer is recommended for maximum durability, especially on certain bare metals or plastics.
Application
Shake the can vigorously for at least one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. Continue to shake it often during use.
Practice first on a scrap surface to get a feel for the spray pattern and the distance needed.
Hold the can upright 20–30 cm from the surface.
Spray a single, heavy, even coat in a steady, back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Keep the can in motion while spraying.
Avoid applying multiple thin coats, as this will flatten the effect and prevent the proper “hammered” pattern from developing.
To avoid drips and runs, maintain the correct distance and speed, and do not over-apply the paint.
Drying and cleanup
Drying times: The paint is touch-dry in 5–10 minutes and can be handled in about 20 minutes. It has a fast-drying formula, but cooler or more humid conditions can prolong drying time.
Clean the nozzle immediately after use by turning the can upside down and spraying for 3 to 5 seconds until only clear gas is released. If the nozzle clogs, you can pull it off and rinse it with lacquer thinners.
