As the country experiences a multitude of extreme weather and seasonal patterns, one cannot stress how important it is to take care of exterior wood features on your property. In this brief guide we advise on protection of your furnitures and fittings. We hope that it will help you make some wise decisions about products you need for your home or business.
External sealants protect wood while also making it look good. We have to consider the following when looking for the right exterior sealant in South Africa.
Water and Moisture Repellance – based in Cape Town or on the Coast, there is a high requirement for products to repell water and moisture.
UV – protection. The extreme heat conditions that are prevailing each year means that the high South African UV-factors have a detrimental effect on exterior wood. The UV radiation damages the surface of the wood and leads to extended wood degradation. Sealers in South Africa need to have high levels of UV-absorption.
Lifespan – How many times do you make a note to re-seal and maintain a piece of furniture, decking or other item? The Lifespan of an exterior sealant is important and annual inspection and maintenance is necessary to maintain the integrity of the wood.
Maintenance – due to the conditions of our environment, wood maintenance is vitally important for wood health.
These are the factors we consider when selecting our solutions for wood protection. Now check out the Woodoc products we propose.

Look out for the blue tin. Woodoc 30 is one of the best sellers in the Woodoc exterior range because it is excellent for general exterior applications. Think Garage Doors, Patio furniture, gates, exterior doors and door frames. It has a good UV and moisture protection.
Also important is that it biodegrades at the end of its lifespan and can easily be replaced.
Woodoc 35 – Exterior Polywax Sealer | Tinted, Low Gloss
What’s the difference? Also in a blue container, but has additional UV protection because of iron oxide additives.
